PGH

PGH (Preimplantation Genetic Haplotyping)

PGH is a further advancement of PGD. At present approximately 200 inherited defects are identified through PGD.

PGH enables the genetic components of a cell taken from an embryo on day three of its development. The cell is magnified enabling the identification of possible inherited disorders.

This has been of significant development for sex linked genetic disorders. PGD identified the sex of the embryo and therefore the opposite sex embryos were replaced. PGH allows the magnification of the cell that enables the identification of individual affected embryos. Therefore, individual embryos are replaced regardless of the gender of the embryo.
