Ovulation InductionFSHFSH or Follicle Stimulating Hormone is used to help the ovaries produce eggs. When using FSH ultra sound scans may be offered to monitor the response and number of follicles developing. In addition FSH also thickens the lining of the uterus to aid implantation. When the follicles are a certain size approximately 16mm or above timed intercourse may be recommended. In addition an additional injection of HCG will be used. Dominant Follicle HCGHCG or Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin is a drug which enables the egg to further mature. It also aids the release of the egg in the follicle. Timed intercourse will be suggested so that sperm will be present when the egg is released from the follicle, in order for fertilization to take place in the fallopian tube. |
