The use of recreational drugs not only affects fertility but can lead to fetal abnormalities.

Folic Acid

It is imperative when trying to get pregnant that woman take a Folic Acid 400mcg daily. Folic acid helps to prevent neural tube defects such as Spina Bifida. Folic acid should be taken at least 6 weeks before trying to get pregnant and then up week 12 of pregnancy.

Exercise

Exercise is important to strengthen both muscles and bones which helps in trying to conceive and in carrying a pregnancy. It also has an added benefit of relieving tension and stress.
