Urine Pregnancy Test Negative and Body Temp above 36.5

Hi

I am a first time IVF transfer - blacosyst transfer at 5 days. I have my blood test due on day 12 after the transfer.

I know we are always told not to do home preg tests - just wait until the blood test. But the reason the nurses say this is because it may read positive from the hormone injections I have had to give myself - 4 injections in total.

I couldn't help myself and did a home preg test at Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10 and Day 11. My blood test is tommorrow - 12 May 2006.

All the urine tests have come back negative - except day 9 - and that was because i had taken my 4th hormone injection the day before. Also - note it was ever so slight a blue mark - it could almost be confused for an evaporation mark and not a positive.

To me - I am now convinced I am not pregnant. I mean surely if I was and also injectioning myself with hormones I would have resulted in a positive by now?

The preg tests say it can detect a pregnancy at 25ml - what will a blood test be able to detect on Day 12 to confirm a definite pregnancy?

Also - because I did blacosyst and the embryo went in 5 days developed - should this have any impact on the expected amount of hormones my body is producing. For example a home pre tests say they can detect as early as between 7 and 10 days. Does the 5 day old embryo count towards those days - or is is 7 to 10 dyas that the embryo has been implanted in my womb.

The final question I have is about body temperature. I was told my my naturalpath to keep an eye on my body temp - as if it dropped below 36.5 - it may mean my period would come/may loose egg. Just wondering - do the hormone injections actually raise my temp anyway? Is it possible to get my period whilst injectioning - and finally - if I am not pregnant - how soon would a perosn get there period after stopping the injections?

I have read the board and it seems a lot of comments are about period pains. I alos have had cramps on and of for the last two weeks- just slight. Last night Day 11 for the first time the cramps woke me 3 times.

Sorry - I have a lot of questions - but I have had so much time to ponder them all. I am sure time goes slower when you really want something to happen.

THank You

Hi Melanie,
It is best to do teh test on the day it is due for the very reason you have found especially if you are injecting more hormones into your body. The reason being is that beta HCG may not register or may give you a false reading. Blood tests are far more sensative then the urine ones. It is still possible to have a peirod whilst injecting. I am unaware as to the body temperature as that fluctuates in different women. The blastocyst transfer ensures that the embryo is at a certain level of development prior to implanation. The hormones in your body will only alter if pregnacy occurs, although bear in mind that you will already be increasing levels of progesterone with the medication that you are taking. Sit tight try not to focus on the cramps very common and does not neccesarily mean that you will get your peirod.

Good luck

How soon does the pregnancy tummy would start to show off in this case? I have read that in a first pregnancy, tummy starts to show around the 4th or even 5th month. The thing is that I lost my baby in my first pregnancy, when it was only 4 weeks old. I am looking forward to get pregnant again but I wonder if my pregnancy tummy will appear around 4th or 5th month, or earlier, because it is consider already a second pregnancy.
