sperm results..ICSI? Confused pls help!!

Postby ereekar » Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:24 pm

Hi
My husband and I have been TTC for over a year (both age 27). My husband has arthritus and as a result was on medication (sulphazalazine). After a while we asked for him to have a fertility test to see how much the drugs were affecting his sperm count. The reult was 100% negative! After this he came stright of the tablets and has had 2 tests since. Both have only come back at around the 3-5% normal rate. Our GP has told us that ICSI may be our only option.
I am going to see my GP next week but I know that all the funding for IVF in this area has been pulled so I am not sure that treatment on the NHS will be an option. We can go private but we are not sure what we do next...does anyone have any recommendations? I am not sure if some clinics are better than others?

My hsbands last test results were;
colume/ml - 3
PH 8.5
Motility% progressive 29%, non-progressive 16%, non-motile 44%
Agglutination: less than 1%
Morphology% normal 3%, abnormal 97%

Any helpa nd advice would be welcome as we are very confused and not sure of our next steps. x

So sorry to hear the news. If your authority funded IVF then they would fund ICSI. You can appeal to your Health Authority and see if they would make na exception. Your GP should be able to help you with this. In terms of altering the sperm count itself please check the male factor section on what you can do regarding diet etc.

Good luck
