Donor Eggs

Postby Karen19 » Fri Mar 21, 2008 3:33 am

I am 36 years old and after 4 failed attempts of IVF my husband and I have decided to use donor eggs. If anyone has gone through this and would like to share any info I would really appreciate it.

Hi Karen!

I hope you are still checking this site! I am also 36 and just finished my fifth round of IVF. All were unsuccessful. My husband and I are now moving on to using both donor egg and donor sperm. I would love to have a buddy to go through this with. We have just started looking for a sperm donor and are waiting for the clinic to find an egg donor. I hope to God this works! It has been a long, painful road for us filled with lots of grief and disappointment. Where are you in the donor process now?

Karen, Shygirl - It's been a while since your posts and not sure if you still check in .. if you do, I hope you are both well and happy. We just received news that donor eggs may be the only way to go for DH and I to have children. I'd love to hear about your journeys ... including how you came to decision to go with donors. Hope to hear from you, or from others who have been/going down this road ...

Hi! I am new here- My husband and I have just started on a new adventure! we have decided to go for donor eggs (my eggs are just not good). We picked Spain because our doctor knew of the excellent reputation some of the clinics have there. We went for the first consultation last week and we are just now waiting for our doctor there to match us to a donor. The clinic is called ProcreaTec and it is right near the Bernabeu football stadium. (my husband is ready to spend all our extra time in Madrid touring that Real Madrid stadium!) My doctor is American I think or at least she speaks with an American accent. The nurse Laura also speaks English and so does one of the biologists my husband talked to when he went to freeze his sperm. We are so excited! Have you chosen where you will be going for egg donation?

Hi - we're not quite at that stage. I'm manically learning all I can about DEs at the moment (maybe also to distract me from the :'( of the news of my poor quality eggs and DEs being the only viable option - not totally over grieving yet.. ). DH can't get his head around kids that are not genetically ours. So, we have a lot of talking, exploring, soul-searching and learning to do. At 41, am not exactly going to be a young mum whatever path we go down, so a bit panicked about time too. It's fabulous that you've embarked on your journey (love the Spanish footie reference). I know it's different for everyone, but how did you eventually decide to go ahead? how did you know it was the right thing for you? And how was your DH? Sorry to ask so many questions ... I guess I'm wondering (probably unrealistically!) whether I can expect 'a sign'!
